India Travelogue - Part I: Rajasthan & GujaratPosted on 3 Month(s) ago
Since I was a kid, I remember India was always one of my top 3 destinations to visit. But it was all in my dreams and until very recently (let’s say after I felt I’m an independent grown up which would make it around 25 - lol) had I never thought I’d afford a trip to India IN THE QUALITY I EXPECTED! (by this I mean I wanted to be able to travel from city to city without worrying about money) - Guess what?!! It came true!
Last year - April 2019 we got the green light from the boss that we can make the second series of Shirin Dance in INDIA! O - M - G right now!
So it happened.
Now during all this time since we’ve been there and back, I've posted a lot of content on my Instagram account about my journey in India. However, I never went through the details. Obviously people on IG are not that patient to read a long caption.
So I decided to do this TRAVELOGUE on my newly launched website!
Before our team went to India, everyone, from the ones who had been to India to the ones who had a friend who had been to India, kept telling me to be careful. Be careful not to get a “delhi belly” (because of the spices, you might not be able to handle it and it might make you sick.)
Of course there was a lot of excitement involved as well, but mostly I kept getting warnings so many “be careful”s.
One of these warnings was about “the smell” - but SUPRISE SURPRISE: There was no smell! No such things as “the second you leave the plane, you’ll smell a sudden “WOOSH” of bad smell. Nope! NADA! And let me tell you, I have a very strong sense of smell and I am very sensitive, too.
I think a lot of these things depend on how fussy and inflexible one might be. Also, if you put your mindset on “Ew..it’s gonna be disgusting” and if you are not EXCITED to be visiting such an amazing country, then your brain might show you all the wrong and annoying stuff.
Ok let’ get to our story.
1st Destination: Pushkar - Rajasthan
We landed in Delhi and because there weren’t any flights available on that day to Pushkar, we had to drive all the way from Delhi to Pushkar, which is a 9 hours drive!
Exhausting, but exciting! Especially for someone like me. India and Bollywood has a special place in our hearts as Iranians. A lot of us used to watch bollywood movies, have all the music videos on VHS and enjoyed playing them over and over when we had guests over.
So Imagine how I felt during our travel to Pushkar: I was in THE India !
So we finally arrived in Pushkar. It was night time and we were getting slightly nervous as it looked like we were in the middle of nowhere. It was pitch black, no signs of a city, the road was bumpy and from a point on it wasn’t asphalt road anymore.
Every once in a while we could see lights of villages on the sides of the road. We were actually worried about the place we’ll be staying at. And at last! TADAAA! We arrived and it was the best hotel you could imagine: Pushkar Resorts
I will write about what happened next, in the future posts! Stay tuned ;)
Our Thoughts, Discharged: To be OR not to be a PARENT?
Becoming a parent at some point our lives seems like a quite normal thing. But today, there are a lot of people who prefer NOT to adapt the role of a parent. Is that bad?
A Love Letter to KFC
... I had a dream about you last night. I was craving Kentucky chicken so bad, so I travelled all the way by foot to the closest KFC I could find.
Our Thoughts, Discharged : Migration
As two people who are both immigrants, we talk about our experiences, opinions and challenges we went through our migration.
